Funeral services have been announced for longtime KVOE executive Lee Schroeder, who passed away Oct. 23 at the age of 80.
The funeral will be at 11 am Saturday at Emporia’s First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the church. Private graveside services will take place at Sutphen Mill Cemetery near Chapman.
Schroeder was born in Hutchinson in 1939 and served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962. He began at KVOE as sales manager in 1993, working his way to general manager in 2000 before becoming an account executive from 2009-2013. His time at KVOE capped a 50-year broadcasting career that included stops in Abilene, Garden City and Wichita in Kansas along with stints in New Mexico, Nebraska, Illinois and Louisiana.
Schroeder is survived by his wife, a son, stepson, stepdaughter, two sisters and several other family members.
Memorial donations can be made to the Emporia Alzheimer’s Support Group, Hand in Hand Hospice or First United Methodist Church in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
