One woman had a short trip to Newman Regional Health for treatment after a crash near the hospital Monday morning.
The crash involved a passenger car and Emporia Construction and Remodeling pickup at Sixth and Chestnut shortly after 10:30 am. Police Officer Sinjin Andrews says the car driver was northbound and stopped at the intersection before trying to cross. She apparently did not see the westbound pickup, which hit the passenger side of her car.
The car driver was taken to Newman Regional Health afterward. The extent of her injuries is not immediately known. The pickup driver declined treatment at the scene.
Northbound traffic on Chestnut was blocked for about 45 minutes, while westbound traffic on Sixth was squeezed to one lane around the wreck site.
