Halloween-themed activities dominated Emporia Main Street on Saturday with the Downtown Trick or Treat and Eek! Town Tours.
Children dressed up as their favorite superhero, supervillain, monster, and more filled Commercial Street. Hundreds of families participated in the annual tradition.
Beginning at 11:00 am, children and their families were already on the prowl for Halloween treats. The downtown businesses had the opportunity to act as the “houses” for the event.
Lebo native Kayla Eagleburger brought her two kids, Alexis and Chase to partake. She says she appreciates the safety of the event.
The Downtown Trick or Treat wrapped up just after 1:00 pm with many little ghouls still haunting the streets.
An even spookier event started later in the night with Emporia Main Street’s Eek! Town Tours.
The tours gave Event-Goers a chance to visit some of Emporia’s most haunted locations. Each location featured their own unique bits of paranormal activity that made the event worthwhile for participants. Event Goer Sheila Kelley said talks about her favorite parts touring the Antique Mall on 301 Commercial.
Locations involved with the tour included
301 Commercial
520 Commercial upstairs
710 Commercial
501 Merchant
118 6th
