Emporia city commissioners have announced a special action meeting for Wednesday morning.
The main purpose relates to the multi-million-dollar radio project for Emporia and Lyon County law enforcement and first responders. The first order of business will be to approve an agreement to buy Motorola radios and related equipment from Lyon County. The second part is to authorize the use of $900,000 in general obligation bonds to pay for the purchase.
Other business is planned, including a transfer of currently unspecified properties into the Emporia Land Bank.
Immediately after the action meeting, commissioners will have their regularly-scheduled study meeting. Health and dental benefits for employees and an update on the Becker Addition drainage situation will be the main highlights, but commissioners will also discuss alley maintenance, funding for the Land Bank, the city’s moderate-income housing program and utility rates.
Commissioners will meet at 9 am at White Auditorium City Conference Room 1 AB.
