The latest draft of PlanELC zoning regulations is now out.
Lyon County Zoning Director Sam Seeley joined KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Tuesday with a status report. He says the regulatory documents are the latest step as Emporia and Lyon County work to streamline and realign zoning regulations for more consistency.
The regulations get pretty detailed, but there’s a reason for that approach.
The PlanELC comprehensive plan was approved at both levels of government two years ago. Since then, the regulations have been the focal point. Seeley says there could be other adjustments down the road as needs change.
Seeley says there has been more feedback in Lyon County about the proposed zoning changes than other counties that are in the middle of similar efforts. With that in mind, the public is encouraged to attend several upcoming workshops that will be broken down by zoning category:
*Agriculture: 6-8 pm Nov. 7, Lyon County Courthouse Annex
*Industrial: 6-8 pm Nov. 14, Trusler Business Center
*Commercial: 6-8 pm Nov. 21, Trusler Business Center
*Residential: 6-8 pm Dec. 5, White Auditorium City Conference Room 1 AB
