Turbine components for the Reading Wind Facility are now arriving at construction sites.
According to a news release from Leighton Burkett of Southern Power, the first turbine’s nacelle — which is the enclosed section of the turbine — is set to arrive at the turbine pad and be unloaded Saturday. The remaining sections of the first turbine including the tower section, blades and hub will arrive and be unloaded on Monday.
According to the news release, it takes between eight to 11 trucks to deliver one full turbine. The release also says there will be one turbine delivery a day with a total of five per week and Southern anticipates deliveries will run through February.
Southern is coordinating with Lyon County officials to coordinate delivery routes and related road closures as the delivery process continues.
Assistant Lyon County Engineer Jim Brull, Lyon County Zoning and Floodplain Manager Sam Seeley and Lyon County Commissioner Scott Briggs will discuss more developments at the wind facility on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Monday morning at 11:06 am.
