The Madison Bulldogs clinched their second straight Lyon County League Championship with a 56-6 win over Burlingame Friday.
Madison would open the scoring on the first play of the opening drive with a 46-yard touchdown run by senior Colton Fife. Senior Hunter Engel would add a 62-yard run and Fife would add a 52-yard run to put Madison up 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, an 8-yard touchdown run from junior quarterback Ryan Wolgram and back-to-back pick-sixes by Wolgram and junior Brome Rayburn would put the Bulldogs up by 50. Madison would score their final touchdown off a 19 yard run by sophomore Bryson Turner before Burlingame quarterback Kris Hovestadt would complete a 7-yard pass to sophomore Lance Noonan for the Bearkats only touchdown of the game.
Wolgram finished the night with 39 total yards and two touchdowns. He credits the win to a complete team effort.
Head Coach Alex McMillian says their team controlled the momentum from the start.
Madison had 203 total offensive yards while Burlingame managed 84 total yards. With the win Madison now improves to 7-0 on the season while Burlingame falls to 4-2.
