The Flint Hills Senior Life Fair packed the Fairgrounds Anderson Building with hundreds of people, including one special guest: the Mayberry Deputy.
David Browning reprised his role as Barney Fife, one of the iconic characters from the Andy Griffith Show, after first appearing at the Senior Life Fair five years ago. He has now been playing the Mayberry Deputy role for over 30 years after a promoter asked him to be part of a bluegrass concert featuring The Darlings, a group made popular by the Andy Griffith Show. He says children and adults enjoy his performances for very different reasons.
The 18th annual Senior Life Fair featured booth vendors, blood pressure checks and health screenings. Education sessions focused on eating habits and periodic wellness checks, and there was also a chair yoga session.
Around 300 people attended.
