Lyon County commissioners appear ready to approve a lease agreement on a tower site northeast of Emporia during their action meeting Thursday.
Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell will present a lease agreement for Evergy’s Lang substation in the 1700 block of Road 200 as well as a $19,000 allocation to install power at the site. When discussed last month, a tentative framework was developed to have a 10-year lease to be renewed every five years through 2049 at a cost of $10,000 per year. The agreement will help increase radio coverage for law enforcement, first responders and other county employees.
In other business, commissioners may approve a $57,000 quote from John Thomas, Inc., for a remote flagger system. If approved, the money would come from the special road, bridge building and machinery fund. A public hearing on matters dealing with Rural Water District No. 1 is also planned, along with four executive sessions.
The meeting starts at 8 am in the County Courthouse.
