A teenage advocate for blood donations will speak with other teens about the topic in Emporia this week.
Hannah Soderstrom will have a presentation Thursday morning at Emporia High School. Soderstrom, 16, is a student at Maize High School and has battled cancer the past three years. She was diagnosed three years ago with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in October 2016 and had her last chemo treatment this past February, being declared cancer-free shortly afterward.
Soderstrom has become a champion for blood donations and the American Red Cross during her battle with cancer. She also founded “Even Mermaids Get Leukemia,” a nonprofit designed to help childhood cancer survivors get involved in activities they may have had to stop attending because of their treatments.
The presentation will be at 10:15 am at the Emporia High auditorium.
