CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness marked National Depression Month with its annual screening day Thursday.
CEO Amanda Cunningham says depression can be short-term or long-term, depending on the person and also on the support that person has. She says depression can have a range of origins, from hereditary to situations.
People suffering from depression may be anxious, sad or irritable and may feel hopeless or guilty about certain situations. They may also have less interest in activities or have less energy, and they may also have changes in sleep patterns or appetite. Cunningham says early intervention and ongoing support are two big keys to beating or minimizing depression.
If you weren’t able to attend the screening event, CrossWinds has different screenings, including one for depression, online at www.crosswindsks.org.
