Three Lyon County agencies are receiving funds through the federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program.
SOS is receiving over $54,000, while Fifth District Comunity Corrections will receive over $43,000. CASA’s amount is over $34,000.
The Justice Assistance Grant program offers funding support in a range of areas including law enforcement, corrections, drug treatment or enforcement, technology enhancements, prevention activities, victim services and mental wellness programs. The program is also a partnership between local, state and federal levels with a goal of improving criminal justice systems and, as a result, creating safer communities.
Governor Laura Kelly says 28 Kansas agencies were chosen, with a total grant amount of almost $2.5 million through the program.
