Emporia’s Holiday Resort has a special event Saturday.
The facility’s first-ever Oktoberfest is coming from 4-10 pm. Numerous activities are planned, with proceeds benefiting a special walkway project around Holiday Resort’s pond. The walkway has been in the planning stages for several years, and spokesperson Jamie Hensley says Holiday Resort is close to a point where it can submit bids and then start construction. She says the walkway will provide a safe area for seniors and their family members to enjoy a stroll.
Activities include food trucks, a beer garden, a cornhole tournament and music from the Burlington group Cheap Therapy. Registration for the cornhole tournament is $20, with the top team receiving 50 percent of the entry fees. Meanwhile, proceeds from food, beverages and souvenir items help to fund the walkway.
