Emporia EMS took one person to Newman Regional Health after a crash in west Emporia on Thursday.
Emporia Police and Emporia Fire responded to 15th and Industrial after a minivan and car collided just after 10 am. Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says a witness says the car’s driver, 20-year-old Rachael Bolinger of Emporia, apparently ran a red light as she traveled eastbound. Her car hit the van, driven by 67-year-old Steve Dixon, hometown not listed.
Dixon went to Newman Regional Health with chest, neck and hand injuries. Bolinger had an arm injury but declined a hospital trip.
Bolinger was cited for inattentive driving.

Emergency crews have transported one individual to Newman Regional Health following a two-vehicle injury accident in Emporia.
The accident which occurred at 15th and Industrial Road around 10:15 am involved two vehicles a van and a passenger car. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage in the accident — the car to the driver’s side and the van to the front end.
According to the Emporia Fire Department, at least one person was taken by ambulance to Newman for observation following the crash. A second individual reportedly refused transport.
Details on which vehicle the hospitalized individual was driving, their condition and a crash narrative are still pending at this time.

Information is still being compiled regarding a two-vehicle injury accident Thursday morning in west Emporia.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of 15th and Industrial Road around 10:15 am Thursday morning for the accident. Details are scarce, however, the accident involved two vehicles, a van and a four-door passenger car.
The car had extensive damage to the driver’s side door while the van had major damage to the front end. The westbound lane on 15th is currently blocked as crews work to clear debris from the scene.
