Enrollment is on the upswing for Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College.
ESU reported a 1.4-percent increase in total headcount enrollment over the fall 2018 semester to 5,877 students. Included in that number was a 4-percent bump iin first-time freshman enrollment and the highest number of total graduate students in university history.
Emporia State is also celebrating other numbers:
*Fall 2019 marked the highest first-year retention rate, topping last year’s prior record.
*The semester had a 72 percent increase in concurrent high school enrollment from fall 2018.
*Average student debt is $6,300 below the national average and over $9,000 below the state average upon graduation.
*Alumni maintain a 97-percent career outcome rate over the past three years.
It’s the second straight year for increased headcount at ESU after a five-year low of 5,732 students in 2017. Full-time enrollment, meanwhile, dipped 1.7 percent to 4,416 students.
At Flint Hills Technical College, full-time equivalent enrollment is up over 2 percent to 699 — and up 18 percent from 2014. Overall headcount is up from 1,425 to 1,514, a 6.25-percent increase from fall 2018, and the college says headcount has increased over 80 percent since 2014.
Like ESU, Flint Hills Technical College is highlighting its post-graduation placement rate, which is now 98 percent.
