With flu season right around the corner, Flint Hills Community Health Center is gearing up to help residents be prepared this week.
The FHCHC drive-thru flu shot clinic will be taking place Friday at the health center located at 420 West 15th Ave. The health center has received around 200 doses of this year’s flu vaccine to administer to residents.
Cami McClellan of FHCHC says the vaccine can be administered to anyone six-months and older.
Unfortunately, due to a delay by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there will be no high-dose vaccines available. The traditional quadrivalent flu shot will be available for those who attend.
Residents are asked to wear short-sleeved clothing and drive up to the canopy which will be located on the west side of the health center to begin the process. The cost of the flu shot is $30 cash without an insurance card.
For those who are unable to attend the clinic Friday, the health center allows walk-in immunizations Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm. The clinic will run from 7:30 am to 4 pm Friday.
