Salvation Army Capt. Deb Thompson is urging residents to donate non-perishable food items to the 18th annual KVOE Drive for Food on Thursday.
Thompson says the food pantry is low across the board on supplies, and that can have a significant impact on what families can take home.
The drive typically brings in 30,000 items or more, and Thompson says that amount is critical in keeping the pantry stocked through the holidays.
Thompson says demand increased over the summer months and has remained high since the school year started. She says the cost of living continues to climb, with rent and utility costs cutting into money available for food.
The annual Drive for Food will officially begin shortly after 9 am Thursday. There is still time to get your address on our pickup list by calling 342-1400 or emailing kvoe@kvoe.com. You can also donate at several drop-ff points, including:
