Four Chase County residents were hurt, including two children with suspected serious injuries, after three vehicles collided on the north edge of Marion on Monday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 37-year-old Virgilene Weber of Elmdale was westbound on US-56 and waiting to turn south on Cedar Street into Marion when the crash happened shortly before 8 am. A westbound pickup driven by 19-year-old Samuel Chambers of La Cygne rear-ended Weber’s car, and then an eastbound car driven by 73-year-old Jean Winter of Hillsboro hit Weber’s car as well.
Weber and 15-year-old Emma Box, also of Elmdale, went to Marion Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Ten-year-old Ava Box and 2-year-old Wesley Weber, both of Elmdale, went to Marion Hospital with suspected serious injuries.
Winter and a passenger, 73-year-old Charlotte Kennedy-Takahashi, went to Marion Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Chambers was not hurt.
Conditions will not be released.
