One woman was taken to Newman Regional Health for medical treatment after an incident on Interstate 35 near Emporia on Wednesday night.
Highway Patrol Lt. Eric Murray tells KVOE News a trooper tried to stop a small northbound U-Haul that was moving erratically and not using its headlights near mile marker 136, about three miles east of Emporia, shortly after 9 pm. As the vehicle continued, the trooper used what’s called a tactical vehicle intervention, or where the trooper’s vehicle bumps a corner of the other vehicle, in order to get it to turn sideways and stop. In this case, the U-Haul went off the highway into a ditch.
Emporia Police on site say the driver had minor injuries and was hospitalized afterward. Her name has not been released.
The case is still under investigation.
