Traffic will continue to be hindered, on 6th Avenue, following a significant water main break Tuesday night.
Emporia Public Works Director Dean Grant says the break occurred at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Wilson Street before 5 pm Tuesday. Water service had been cut off to customers in the seven hundred block of Wilson, and on 6th Avenue west to Sunnyslope.
Crews were working — late Tuesday night — to make repairs, and Grant says the repairs were made — and service restored — just before midnight Tuesday. Grant says motorists can expect westbound traffic to remain down to one lane, for about three days, until the road is repaired.
