USD 251 North Lyon County is inviting the public to a special ceremony Friday evening.
The ceremony is a check presentation for a $25,000 grant to the school district from America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program sponsored by the Bayer Fund. The funds will be used by 251 to enhance its Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) programs throughout the district.
Earlier this year, America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education partnered with local farmers to nominate schools for the program with $2.3 million awarded to enhance STEM programs. In a news release given to KVOE News, President of the Bayer Fund Al Mitchell says “With the incredible support of local farmers, countless grant-winning schools have shared with us how Grow Rural Education funds have made their STEM programs more engaging and, in several instances, positively impacted test scores.”
The Grow Rural Education program has awarded more than $18 million in grants to rural communities since its inception in 2011. The check presentation will take place at 7:45 pm during halftime of the Northern Heights football game Friday night.
