Discussions will be put on hold for the time being regarding rural property northeast of Emporia which has garnered a lot of attention in recent months.
Lyon County Zoning and Floodplain Manager Sam Seeley says planned discussions regarding the so-called Price tract scheduled for Thursday’s Lyon County Commission meeting have been postponed to Oct. 31st. Property owners Lex and Janice Price recently entered into an agreement with Burlington Northern Santa Fe to market the over 300-acre tract — located in the 1500 block of Road 200 — if the county changed the zoning from agriculture to heavy industrial.
The zoning request came before Lyon County Commissioners last month at which time the commission sent the request back to the Lyon County Planning Board due to the limited oversight commissioners would have as to potential developments in the area. Commissioners were set to take action on the request Thursday following approval by the planning board earlier this month.
According to Seeley, the request to postpone conversations was made by Lex Price to “allow an opportunity to provide more information.”
