Fire Station #2 will be hosting Safe Kids Emporia’s final Child Passenger Safety Check Lane of 2019 on Saturday.
Safe Kids spokesperson Bev Long says certified technicians will be on-hand from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to check the installation of your child’s car seat. She says car crashes are one of the leading causes of children’s deaths in the U.S. and making sure your child is in the proper seat — correctly installed — can help prevent them from becoming part of that statistic.
Long says it’s important to make sure your child’s car seat changes, as they do.
Long says Safe Kids also keeps up on manufacturer recalls, so having the car seat checked may alert you to a potential problem you didn’t know existed.
The public is asked to bring their primary vehicle, the child, and the child safety seat. The Safety Check Lane is being held at Fire Station #2, 15th Avenue and Industrial Road from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
