Not one, but two hopeful Senate candidates made an appearance in Emporia Friday morning.
Democrats Usha Reddi, a Manhattan City Commissioner and the city’s mayor pro-tem, and former US Attorney for Kansas Barry Grissom attended the Kansas State American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations meeting at Flint Hills Technical College. The purpose of the visit according to both Reddi and Grissom was to hear directly from labor union members to gain insight into how best to serve those who serve the local community.
When it comes to his candidacy, Grissom believes, aside from his four years served as US Attorney to Kansas, his 26 years of experience as a lawyer helps set him apart from others vying for the position.
Reddi says, if elected, she will look to spark a sense of urgency for job growth and development throughout Kansas.
Reddi and Grissom are joined by fellow democrat Nancy Boyda as candidates vying for Senate. On the Republican side of the aisle, candidates include current Congressman Roger Marshall, former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and current Senate President Susan Wagle.
