The United States Department of Agriculture is granting $150 million to rural communities affected by recent natural disasters.
Congressman Steve Watkins says residents in Coffey and Osage counties are among people in 17 counties that are now eligible for the grants. Watkins says the funds will help residents recover from flooding and tornadoes.
The grants come from the USDA’s Rural Housing Service Administration and its Community Facilities Program. For more information, go online to www.rd.usda.gov/ks and click on the Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant program link.
