The Kansas City Royals rallied for a 6-5 win over the Oakland A’s Monday night.
In the 9th inning Brett Phillips tied the game with a solo home run.
Adalberto Mondesi doubled driving in Whit Merrifield for the winning run.
Mondesi also tripled driving in Merrifield for the Royals first run. Jorge Soler hit his 45th home run of the season. Tying him with Mike Trout for the AL home run lead. Mike Trout has been shut down for the rest of the season.
Alex Gordon drove in 2 runs with a single in the 5th. Ian Kennedy earned his 30th save.
Manager Ned Yost also earned career win 1200.
The Royals and A’s play again Tuesday night with Jorge Lopez on the mound for the Royals. First pitch will be at 9:07p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 8:30p.
