Emporia State University’s Diversity Student Programs started Hispanic Heritage month with the kickoff festival on Thursday.
The festival filled Memorial Union with students and teachers alike to celebrate Hispanic culture with music, dancing, food, and games.
Heritage Month is not just a great way to celebrate culture it’s also vital in spreading attention to groups within the university. ESU Coordinator of Diversity Programs Teresa Taylor-Williams explains more about the month’s importance.
The month also has brought many students wonderful memories. ESU Graduate Nereida Chavira talks about her fond memories.
Hispanic Heritage Month will continue on until October 15 and will feature more events such as Artist’s Roundtable ft. Bryan Vazquez on Friday, Doc and Discuss: “Frida Kahlo” on September 17, and The Latinx Experience at ESU on September 25 with more in October.
