The downpour in Emporia has subsided, for the time being, however, the chances of severe weather still remain in the forecast.
TV-13 meteorologist Jeremy Goodwin says the greatest chances for storms to develop will be between 5 and 8 pm this evening throughout the KVOE listening area.
Thunderstorm activity Thursday afternoon did lead to a few schedule adjustments:
* Senior disc golf canceled Thursday evening. Regular schedule resumes next Thursday.
* The Hispanic Heritage Month kickoff event has been moved from ESU’s Kellogg Circle to the Memorial Union’s Webb Hall. The event is free to attend and runs from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Areas along and east of the Kansas Turnpike, including Emporia, are still in a slight severe weather risk. Areas west of the highway are under a marginal risk. High wind and hail are the main concerns.
