Emporians can now take advantage of the city’s new bike share program.
A Kansas Health Foundation grant is funding the program, which includes 24 bikes at six solar-powered stations:
*Logan Ave. Elementary School
*Emporia High School
*Lee Beran Recreation Center
*Do-B’s
*Near the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office
*Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness
On KVOE’s 12:10 pm newscast Tuesday, Healthier Lyon County grant manager Daphne Mertens said she expects the bikes will be used a lot.
Cyclists need to download the Movatic app to start the process. They also need to enter a credit card or debit card number in case a bike is damaged or stolen. Riders then need to pick their station and bike number. The bike will then be unlocked through a Bluetooth connection.
