The Kansas Department of Transportation has approved several bids for significant bridge work in Chase County.
Bridges Inc. of Newton won contracts for three of the four projects, including:
*A $2.3 million bid to replace the Kansas Highway 177 bridge connecting to US Highway 50 just west of Strong City
*A $1.9 million bid to replace a bridge on K-177 over Fox Creek, about three miles north of US-50
*A $1.3 million bid to replace a bridge on K-177 over a Fox Creek drainage area nearly six miles north of US-50.
King Construction of Hesston won the fourth project with a $436,000 bid to replace a bridge over Bloody Creek southeast of Cottonwood Falls.
KDOT has not announced timelines for any of these projects.
