Four individuals went to Newman Regional Health after a two-vehicle injury accident Saturday morning.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, a 2005 Chevy Colorado driven by Ray Emley of Emporia was traveling southbound in the northbound lane around 10:20 am. At the same time, a silver 2008 GMC Yukon driven by Jon Aluise of Andover was traveling northbound.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Aluise-driven Yukon swerved to the left shoulder the same time as the Emley swerved to the median. Emley’s vehicle struck the rear passenger side of the Yukon causing it to roll and come to a rest on its top in the median. Three of the occupants inside the Yukon were taken to Newman Regional Health by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. None have been named. Emley initially refused transport but later went to the hospital by private vehicle.
All individuals involved were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
NOON Saturday: Three to Newman following injury accident on Interstate 35
Details are pending following a two-vehicle injury accident which sent three individuals to Newman Regional Health Saturday morning.
Emergency crews were called to mile marker 132 on Interstate 35, just near the Burlingame Road exit, shortly before 10:30 am Saturday morning. According to Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Jesse Taylor the accident involved two vehicles, an SUV and a pickup truck.
Taylor says all three individuals transported were occupants of the SUV, the pickup driver did not require hospitalization. All three individuals were transported with what are being called “non-life threatening” injuries.
Further details, including a crash narrative, are currently pending. Along with Emporia Fire/EMS, Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Emporia Police Department also responded to the scene.
