The Emporia State volleyball team opened their season with two wins Friday in the Washburn Invitational.
They opened with a 5 set win over Drury. The Lady Hornets won the match 14-25, 25-15, 25-21,19-25 and 15-7.
Yuchen Du finished with 20 kills and 17 digs. Aliyah Bernard added 10 kills. Emma Dixon had a team high 40 assists.
They followed that up with a 4 set win over William Jewell. William Jewell won the first set 25-19. Emporia State responded by winning the next 3 sets 25-19, 25-13 and 25-23. Mikayla Simons led the offense with 14 kills and Yuchen Du added 12 kills. Emma Dixon finished with 36 assists. Shelby Innes led with 16 digs.
The Emporia State volleyball team will play Central Washington and Quincy on Saturday.
