The Emporia State football team held a scrimmage Thursday night as they prepare for their season opener.
Coach Garin Higgins said there is some fine tuning they will need to do before the season opener.
Sophomore Dalton Cowan has been named the starting quarterback.
Sophomore Dawson Hammes has earned more playing time during training camp. He has been working with the number 1s and is looking forward to playing a bigger role.
The Hornets go into game week mode beginning Friday.
