Classic and new school country music — without the assistance of instruments — filled the Granada Theatre Thursday evening courtesy of country vocal band Home Free.
Since their founding in 2000 by brothers Adam and Chris Rupp, the band has gone on to release 10 studio albums and are preparing to release their 11th titled “Dive Bar Saints.” After winning season four of NBC’s a cappella competition The Sing-Off in 2013 the band has collaborated with several notable country music legends including Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Charlie Daniels and The Oak Ridge Boys.
Thursday’s song list included Home Free’s unique takes on memorable hits such as Take Me Home Country Roads, Ring of Fire, Elvira and many more. The a cappella performance mixed with the band’s comedic storytelling made Thursday an enjoyable evening for all.
The current band consists of beatboxer, and founding member, Adam Rupp, lead tenor Austin Brown, bass singer Tim Foust, low tenor Rob Lundquist and baritone Adam Chance.
Home Free will continue their current tour with a performance Friday in Mount Pleasant, IA.
