Classes are underway at Sacred Heart School, and Principal Darby O’Neill is pleased with how the school year has started.
Part of that has to do with new enhancements, notably technology. Over the summer, the school added Apple TVs to all classrooms to connect with the iPads currently used at the school.
Part of that also has to do with the staff. O’Neill says the Sacred Heart staff roster has been constant for three years now — a first for him.
Because parochial schools like Sacred Heart can’t take advantage of the increased funding for public schools as approved by lawmakers and the Kansas Supreme Court earlier this year, O’Neill says fundraising — and student access to the school — are always top priorities.
Enrollment is currently stable at around 60 students in grades K-5.
