An Emporia woman was the person hurt in a motorcycle-pickup crash in west Emporia around 5 pm Monday.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says 32-year-old Denisha Ratliff was driving a motorcycle eastbound on 15th and was approaching Prairie Street when the motorcycle either sputtered or had motor problems as accelerated from the stop sign. Ratliff then crashed into the side of a pickup driven by 74-year-old Darrel Carter, also of Emporia.
An ambulance took Ratliff to Newman Regional Health with an apparent head injury. Her condition will not be released. Carter was not hurt.

A motorcycle driver was taken to Newman Regional Health after colliding with a pickup Monday.
The wreck at 15th and Prairie happened around 5 pm. Police Lt. Scott Stormont says the motorcyclist was eastbound on 15th, with the truck northbound on Prairie.
Early indications are the motorcycle may have lost power as the motorcycle approached the intersection. The driver, a currently unidentified woman, gunned the engine but the motorcycle hit the side of the truck.
Nobody in the truck was hurt.
The south side of Prairie Street was completely blocked during initial patient treatment and the crash investigation. Updates are pending.
