The Emporia State football team is receiving votes in the Amercian Football Coaches Association preseason poll.
They are 1 of 6 MIAA schools ranked or receiving votes in the preseason poll.
Valdosta State is the number 1 ranked team.
Followed by Ferris State, Minnesota State, Notre Dame of Ohio and Ouachita Baptist.
Northwest Missouri State is ranked 6th, Fort Hays State is ranked 11th.
Pittsburg State, Central Missouri and Central Oklahoma are also receiving votes.
One area the Hornets will be looking to improve is the kicking game. Sophomore Sam Dobbins says that is his goal, to improve.
Sophomore Clark Schoonover is also battling for the starting kicker spot.
