The 2019 United Way Fundraising Campaign is officially underway.
During the campaign kickoff Thursday evening at the Lyon County History Center, United Way Director Jami Reever spoke with KVOE News and says it is very exciting to have not only several of their community partners in attendance but numerous community members as well. The annual fundraiser benefits several agencies in Lyon and surrounding counties as well as Woodson County. With all of the funds benefiting the local community, it is fitting this year’s campaign slogan is “live local, give local.”
Although the campaign officially began Thursday, Thomas and Reever have spent plenty of time the past few weeks laying the groundwork with local donors. Thomas recalls recent visits to both Wolf Creek and Simmons Pet Foods.
On top of the corporate donors who help contribute to the annual fundraiser, Reever says they also receive a great deal of support from non-corporate and individual donors as well.
According to Reever, this year’s campaign total will be announced in the coming weeks after they have had time to gauge the progress of their pacesetter companies who will be starting their campaigns very soon. Photos from the kickoff are online at KVOE.com.
