The United States Department of Health and Human Services is awarding over $1.25 million in so-called Quality Improvement Awards to 18 community health centers in Kansas, and some of that money is coming to Emporia.
Flint Hills Community Health Center was named as one of the grant recipients this week. The Health Resources and Services Administration says the Health Center will get over $50,000 in total. Over $12,500 is listed for so-called “clinical quality improvers.” Another $5,000 will be used for advancing health information technology for quality and $35,000 will go to patient-centered medical home recognition.
The Health Center has not given specifics on these projects.
The Quality Improvement Award program is designed to recognize the work health centers do to address health priorities. HRSA also designates the top one to two percent of performers in categories like behavioral health, diabetes prevention and management and heart health as National Quality Leaders. The top 30 percent of health centers achieving the best overall clinical performance are designated as Health Center Quality Leaders.
