The Burlington Police Department has been alerted to a scam caller in the community Wednesday.
The caller behind the scam identified himself as ‘Sean Parker, badge number 7492 with the Burlington Police Department.’ The caller stated that he “has a warrant for the person’s arrest and to be at their home at 2:00 pm tomorrow.”
The intent of the scam is to scare the caller into giving out personal information with the intent to steal their identity. Burlington PD reminds everyone that law enforcement does not handle business of that nature over the phone, and will never ask for any kind of financial information. All payments go through the courts.
The Burlington Police Department has issued a statement stating, “If we have a warrant for your arrest, we will be making a personal visit to you. We will not contact you by phone.”
No suspect information is available at this time. If you have any pertinent information on the perpetrator, contact Burlington PD at (620) 364-9757.
