The zoo was filled with laughter and smiles during David Traylor Zoo’s Back to School Zoobilee on Wednesday.
The Zoobilee is put on by the zoo every year to celebrate the start of the school year with games like musical chair and hopscotch. There are also arts and crafts, book readings, and a table where kids could get books of their own.
This year the zoo paired up with Emporia Public Library, Mobilizing Literacy 4 Lyon County Families and the Kansas Masonic Literacy Center at Emporia State University to make the event happen.
Many families and kids are ready for school to start. Daycare owner Devon Moore took the kids from daycare out to the event and says the kids are excited for the upcoming year.
The school year officially starts on Friday but there will be a jumpstart day on Thursday for new students.
