The Emporia State football team held their first practice Monday night.
Coach Garin Higgins called it a typical first practice.
The defense returns 11 players who started last season. Junior Linebacker Jace McDown is one of those returnees.
Senior Kai Callins is one of the few returning offensive starters.
They will hold their 2nd practice Tuesday morning.
