Emporia State junior linebacker Jace McDown is starting the season with a preseason honor.
McDown is a second-team preseason All-American as named by Lindy’s Sports Magazine.
McDown was a second-team All-MIAA last season after leading the conference with 127 total tackles, including 79 unassisted. He also was tops in the conference with five forced fumbles. In addition, he was third nationally in forced fumbles, fourth in total tackles and eighth in solo tackles.
McDown is one of three MIAA players honored, with defensive lineman Simanu’a Thomas of Pittsburg State and kicker Dante Brown of Fort Hays State also on the second team.
