No come from behind win for the Emporia AAA American Legion baseball team in game 2 of the AAA/AA State tournament. Hays, the host team, defeated Post 5 12-3.
Hays scored 4 runs in the top of the 1st and Emporia was never able to recover. The Post 5 seniors scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Hays would answer with 3 runs in the 3rd, 2 runs in the 4th and scored 3 more runs in the 7th. Hays out hit the Post 5 Seniors 17-7. Emporia Coach Anthony Markowitz said Hays came out attacking.
The Post 5 Seniors wrap up pool play with a must win game against Ottawa.
Only the top 2 teams in each pool advance to Saturdays single elimination bracket play.
