Come late January, a new car wash with new technology should have customers at West Sixth and Prairie.
The formal groundbreaking for Mr. G’s Express took place Thursday, and owner Danny Giefer says he’s itching to get started on construction as soon as Aug. 14. An Emporia city commissioner, Giefer had to step aside from his city role as he worked on the new car wash.
Giefer tells KVOE News he has been researching new car wash technology for the past six to seven years, and the new facility will bring a top-of-the-line friction wash method to Emporia. Giefer says the friction wash technology means a more gentle yet more thorough clean and for cars and trucks in three minutes or less.
The new car wash is a $4.2 million investment and becomes Giefer’s fourth car wash in Emporia, joining locations at 101 South Commercial, 1901 West Sixth and 716 East 12th. Giefer says most of the work ahead will be done by local companies.
