An Emporia man convicted of aggravated kidnapping and related counts saw his original sentence reduced Tuesday, but not by much.
Will Anderson was resentenced in Lyon County District Court Tuesday morning after being originally sentenced to over 34 years in prison on July 18. Anderson saw his sentence reduced by 27 months to just over 32 years. Anderson was convicted in April for aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, robbery and burglary after a man was locked in a dog cage, threatened with knives, tattooed and had money taken from his bank account during a 24-to-30-hour incident in September 2018.
County Attorney Marc Goodman says there was an error in the pre-sentence investigation journal entry which is what led to the resentencing.
Anderson was one of four people originally charged in connection with the case, and three of the four have now been sentenced. Stacy Steen was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading no contest to aggravated kidnapping. Brandon Villa was sentenced to probation for attempted marijuana distribution after being originally charged with kidnapping. Sentencing is at 10 am Wednesday for Ivan Murillo after charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated battery.
