The Cleveland Indians out scored the Kansas City Royals 5-4 in 14 innings Thursday night.
Hunter Dozier gave the Royals 2-1 lead in the first inning with a 2 run home run.
Cleveland scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th. The Royals tied the game in the bottom of the 6th when Whit Merrifield was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The game remained tied until the 14th inning when Cleveland scored 2 runs. The Royals loaded the bases in the bottom of the 14th. Jorge Solers sacrifice fly scored 1 run. A flyout and strikeout ended the game.
The Royals and Indians play again Friday night with Jakob Junis on the mound. First pitch is set for 7:15p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM. Coverage begins at 6:30p.
