Formal charges have been filed against an Emporia man after a chase that developed in southeast Emporia just about a week ago.
Police are releasing more information about the incident that began shortly before 7 pm July 17. Sgt. Lisa Sage says 33-year-old Dennis Ray Torrence led a chase that started near the intersection of Logan and South Commercial and worked through parts of both northeast and southeast Emporia before ending with Torrence’s arrest in the 400 block of South East.
Lyon County Attorney Marc Goodman says Torrence has been charged with flee and elude, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and methamphetamine possession. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 19.
