Emporia Public Schools is officially enrolling students for the upcoming academic year.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment Monday, Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren unveiled the enrollment process — which started Monday morning. There are some changes, notably in the location. The Flint Hills Learning Center inside Flinthills Mall is the enrollment hub in case students are new to the district, parents have questions about anything in the process or families don’t have Internet access.
Landgren says the available space, nearby parking and on-site daycare make the mall a good site for enrollment traffic.
Landgren says the Community Relations Department has been streamlining the enrollment process for most of the calendar year.
As part of the enrollment packet, Landgren says there is information about a new payment procedure. RevTrak will streamline the payment process as opposed to the longstanding EZSchoolPay. Landgren says RevTrak works a lot like online shopping websites, where parents can put the different fees or payments into a cart and pay once everything is finalized.
There is also information about the upcoming $78 million bond for facility improvements. The mail-in election for that bond essentially starts Aug. 16 when ballots go out and concludes Sept. 5.
Enrollment at the Learning Center is for returning or pre-registered kindergarten through 12th grade students and goes Mondays through Thursdays until Aug. 8. Enrollment or “snap” codes went out in the mail Saturday and should be in hand by Wednesday for people that want to handle enrollment at home. Starting Aug. 12, enrollment goes to Mary Herbert.
Jump Start for new students or students in new buildings will start Aug. 15. The first official day of classes is Aug. 16.
