The Emporia Energy 16 year old team is a state champion. The Energy out scored the Clay Center B’s 15-3 to win the USA Softball 18 year old Class C Bracket B state title.
Elleana Bennett hit a grand slam in the first inning to get the party started.
Mija Carlson was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI.
Gracie Gilpin was also 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
The Energy was 4-0 for the weekend and won every game by run rule. Coach Angie Gilpin said they took care of business.
The 16s are now 13-7-1 and are entered to play in the 18B Northern National tournament to be played in Emporia beginning July 25th.
